The New Age Pet ECOFLEX is quickly becoming one of the most cost effective terrariums you can buy.

The glass sliding panels at the front of the terrarium offer good viewing of your beardie and easy access for cleaning and feeding times.

The mesh top offers good ventilation throughout the terrarium and fixtures to apply your lighting and heat lamps.

The plastic wood polymer composite is a sturdy material, making the terrarium heavy and awkward to manoeuvre but on the positive, this offers a strong and reliable structure.

REPTI ZOO Glass Reptile 85 Gallon Terrarium

⭐️ Verdict: Best for Baby/Juvenile

Despite its smaller size, this terrarium still offers sufficient space for an adult beardie to move around, emphasizing length over height and width compared to the larger tank.

With its 360° view and convenient front sliding doors, it simplifies feeding and cleaning routines. Additionally, the cable port on the left side facilitates easy wire arrangement for lighting and heating setups.

Enhanced ventilation, thanks to the mesh lid and additional mesh panel, promotes better air circulation within the terrarium. However, it’s worth noting that this design may lead to quicker heat loss, making it less suitable for cooler room environments.

In terms of structure, it shares the sturdiness and reliability characteristic of the REPTI ZOO Glass Reptile Terrarium.

What to Look For in Bearded Dragon Tanks

Appropriate Sizing

Baby Bearded Dragon

For babies, the minimum required is a 20 gallon tank but I would recommend using a 40 gallon from the start as when your beardie reaches 3-4 months old, they’ll require a size upgrade.

Juvenile Bearded Dragon

Juveniles require a minimum of 40 gallons, the optimum size I would recommend is up to 85 gallons to offer the space required for exercise.

Adult Bearded Dragon

As I have mentioned in the reviews, the use of 120 gallons for an adult Bearded Dragon is paramount to offer the correct space for them to exercise and provide them with the ventilation needed throughout the terrarium.

Functionality

The functionality of your terrarium is one of the most important things to keep in mind when choosing. Remember, you’re the one that will have to do all the maintenance, not your beardie.

Things to keep in mind;

  • Feeding – You want the easiest access to provide food and water, sliding doors are great for this.
  • Viewing – You don’t want to spend all this money on a terrarium and not be able to see your new friend roaming around their habitat. I recommend glass doors.
  • Cleaning – The most enjoyable part of being a Beardie owner. Having an easily removable lid or fully opening doors makes this task a lot easier.

Design

The design of your terrarium is quite important, having a horizontal terrarium provides great ventilation across the whole area as opposed to a vertical one as all the heat would rise to the top. This would not please your beardie as although they like basking on rocks, they’re not the best climbers.

Durability

Buy cheap, buy twice. I would always recommend buying good quality material terrariums. I have heard horror stories of individuals buying flimsy material and then waking up to a collapsed terrarium.

Materials I recommend are;

  • Tempered glass
  • Wood composites
  • PVC

Materials I don’t recommend;

  • Non-PVC plastic

Avoid All-In-One Starter Kits

All-in-one starter kits may seem appealing to some as they’re cheap to obtain and come with all the basic needs for your terrarium.

They’re almost always poor quality materials, which break and crumble due to their weak structure. This is dangerous for your Beardie to live in and I would never recommend the use of them.

FAQ

What Kind Of Tank Is Best For Bearded Dragons?

Glass tanks are the best for Bearded Dragons. They’re not a conductor of heat but retain it well, and they typically come with mesh lids making it easy for your lighting setup.

Do Bearded Dragons Prefer Tall Or Long Tanks?

Bearded Dragons are terrestrial reptiles, meaning they spend most of their time on the ground or rocks in the wild. Because of this they don’t typically climb, so offering a longer tank allows them more space for enrichment.
