Best Bearded Dragon Toys And Habitat Decor For Your Pet

Bearded Dragons are popular pet reptiles they enjoy interactive play and stimulation. They deserve enrichment activities just like any other pet.

I have put together a list of our favorite toys and decorations you can use to interact and bond with your Bearded Dragon.

The Importance of Play

Playing with bearded dragons is important for several reasons:

  • Mental stimulation: Playtime provides mental stimulation, which helps to prevent boredom and can improve your Bearded Dragon’s overall well-being.
  • Physical exercise: Playtime provides an opportunity for physical exercise, which is important for maintaining a healthy weight, improving muscle tone, and promoting overall good health.
  • Bonding: Playing with your Bearded Dragon can help to strengthen the bond between you and your pet. This can lead to a better overall relationship and increased trust.
  • Behavioral improvement: Playtime can also help to address certain behavioral issues, such as aggression or shyness.
  • Environmental enrichment: A varied and stimulating environment is important for the well-being of your Bearded Dragon. Playtime with toys can help to provide this type of environment and prevent monotony.

It’s important to remember not all Bearded Dragons enjoy the same types of play or toys, so observe your pet and determine what they like and what they don’t like.

Choose safe and appropriate toys for your Bearded Dragon’s size and always supervise playtime.

Toys And Decorations For Bearded Dragons

They’re not as much a toy as they’re somewhere safe for your Bearded Dragon to explore and feel comfortable. In the wild, beardies enjoy burrowing into small crevices under rocks and a hide replicates just that.

Another benefit of a hide is, the rough surface will assist your beardie during shedding as they’ll rub against it to remove any stubborn loose skin.

A ball is a simple toy that can provide your Bearded Dragon with plenty of physical exercise. It can also encourage them to use their instincts to chase and hunt.

I recommend using ping pong balls as they’re light and small, this makes it easy for your beardie to move and chase around without injuring itself in the process.

Floats are great for when you’re bathing or taking your beardie for a swim. Some just like to relax in the sunshine if they’re in a pool outside or they’ll use them to rest after going for a swim.

Crinkle Ball

The crinkle ball gets your Bearded Dragons auditory senses going in overdrive. The more the sound happens, the more they’ll want to keep playing.

A great thing about the crinkle ball is, you can make it out of any paper which makes sounds once it’s been crinkled up instead of purchasing them online.

Hammocks are great additions to any Bearded Dragon habitat. A hammock provides a comfortable spot for your beardie to relax and soak up the heat. This can help them to feel more comfortable and secure in their environment.

You don’t need to supervise them whilst they’re using it either, they’ll go in and out at their own leisure as long as it’s set up in an accessible position in the enclosure.

Bridges are versatile accessories for your Bearded Dragons enclosure, depending on the size they can serve multiple purposes. Your beardie can either relax on top of it taking in the heat, or it can go underneath and acts as a hide for them.

Like the hides, bridges provide rough surfaces for your beardie to rub against to remove loose skin during the shedding process.

Tunnels create an interesting environment for your Bearded Dragon, if you purchase multiple tunnels you can join them together to make a maze.

This is a great activity for your beardie because you can put treats in various locations for them to hunt.

Cat Toy

A simple cat toy is a great way to keep your Bearded Dragon healthy. Like cats, they’ll hunt and chase down the dangling wand until they’re able to get it.

Never purchase cat toys with loose materials like feathers or bells because these are easily ingested which can cause choking or impaction.

Feeder Ball

Introducing a feeder ball into mealtime provides great fun and mental stimulation for your Bearded Dragon. Unfortunately, finding a feeder ball fit for purpose with a Bearded Dragon is hard to come by as they’re typically built for dogs.

I recommend purchasing a wiffle ball or using ping pong balls with holes you’ve added to put food inside. Your beardie will see the bugs and move the ball around to gain access to their dinner.

Incorporating toys into your Bearded Dragon’s schedule provides many benefits such as;

  • Physical exercise
  • Mental stimulation
  • Sense of security

Remember to always supervise your pet during playtime and replace any damaged or worn toys. By providing a fun and stimulating environment, you can help ensure a happy and healthy life for your beloved pet.
